Wien-Hietzing ist der 13. Bezirk der österreichischen Hauptstadt und liegt im Westen Wiens, eingebettet zwischen dem Wienerwald und den innerstädtischen Bezirken. Er gilt als einer der grünsten und zugleich elegantesten Teile der Stadt. Historisch war Hietzing einst ein eigenständiges Dorf, das im 19. Jahrhundert durch den Bau des Schlosses Schönbrunn und seiner prächtigen Parkanlagen stark an Bedeutung gewann. Bis heute prägt das UNESCO-Welterbe Schönbrunn das Erscheinungsbild des Bezirks – mit dem Schloss, dem weitläufigen Schlosspark, dem ältesten Zoo der Welt (Tiergarten Schönbrunn, gegründet 1752) und dem Gloriette-Hügel mit Blick auf die Stadt. Rund um das Schloss entstanden einst Villenviertel und Landhäuser, in denen sich wohlhabende Wiener Familien niederließen. Noch heute spürt man hier die Atmosphäre der Jahrhundertwende mit prachtvollen Fassaden und ruhigen Alleen. Neben dem historischen Kern Hietzings gehören auch Viertel wie Ober St. Veit, Unter St. Veit und Lainz zum Bezirk, die durch eine Mischung aus urbanem Leben und naturnaher Umgebung gekennzeichnet sind. Der Lainzer Tiergarten, einst kaiserliches Jagdgebiet, ist heute ein beliebtes Naherholungsgebiet mit Wanderwegen, Wildtiergehegen und der Hermesvilla, die einst Kaiserin Elisabeth als Rückzugsort diente. Auch kulturell bietet Hietzing viel: kleine Museen, traditionelle Kaffeehäuser und regelmäßige Veranstaltungen halten das historische Erbe lebendig. Mit seiner guten Anbindung an das Wiener Verkehrsnetz, der Nähe zur Natur und seiner eleganten Wohnqualität gilt Hietzing als einer der begehrtesten Bezirke Wiens.
Vienna-Hietzing is the 13th district of Austria’s capital, located in the western part of the city, nestled between the Vienna Woods and the more urban central districts. It is known as one of the greenest and most elegant areas of Vienna. Historically, Hietzing was once an independent village that rose to prominence in the 19th century with the construction of Schönbrunn Palace and its grand gardens. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Schönbrunn continues to define the district’s character, featuring the palace itself, its vast parklands, the world’s oldest zoo (Tiergarten Schönbrunn, founded in 1752), and the Gloriette Hill offering panoramic views over the city. Around the palace, villa neighborhoods and country estates were built for Vienna’s upper class, and their charm remains visible today in the area’s stately architecture and leafy streets. Hietzing also includes neighborhoods such as Ober St. Veit, Unter St. Veit, and Lainz, which balance city life with proximity to nature. The Lainzer Tiergarten, once an imperial hunting ground, now serves as a popular recreation area with walking trails, wildlife, and the Hermesvilla — built as a private retreat for Empress Elisabeth. Culturally, Hietzing offers small museums, traditional cafés, and community events that preserve its historic atmosphere. With its combination of green spaces, refined architecture, and excellent public transport connections, Hietzing remains one of Vienna’s most desirable and distinguished districts.
