DIY Serving Tray | Simple Gift Idea

Описание: Sometimes you can’t find the perfect gift for someone. They are difficult to buy for or you have a hard time buying stuff “just because”. I'm the latter…. So that’s when you make something yourself. Bam, you’ve crafted a one of a kind gift for someone and continued to hone your skills. In this project I show you what I would consider a simple process to build a serving/cheese board.

I started with a 1” thick slab of Sissoo wood that had been surfaced on 3 sides (S3S) from my local wood supplier The Woodworkers Source. From there, I didn’t have a significant amount of work ahead of me because the wood was mostly prepped already. I cut it to length, gave it a light sand, then drilled holes for the hardware. I used a set of 5” drawer pulls as hardware. Once the board was shaped and sanded I cleaned it with Odorless Mineral Spirits and treated with food grade Mineral Oil. The Mineral Oil means the board will be safe for use as a cutting board and with food. I hope you take a chance and build your own! Thanks for watching :-)
