पुलिस की पूछताछ में बच्चियों के पिता चेतन कुमार के बयानों में विरोधाभास पाया गया. चेतन ने पहले दावा किया था कि साल 2006 में सुजाता से शादी की थी, लेकिन सुजाता को बच्चे नहीं रहे थे, इसलिए सुजाता की सहमति से उसकी बहन हीना से साल 2009 में दूसरी शादी की थी. पुलिस के रिकॉर्ड के अनुसार, हीना से शादी 2013 में हुई. अगर ऐसा है, तो 16 साल की निशिका (जो पहली पत्नी सुजाता की बेटी है) की उम्र के गणित में झोल है.
