Classic German cars inc DKW/Auto Union, Opel Manta, BMW E9 & BMW Z8, Mercedes 300SL, Trabant & more

Описание: This series of photos looks at classic German cars, produced by companies such as BMW, Audi, Auto Union, DKW, Porsche, Mercedes Benz and other car manufacturers, some no longer in existence.
Although they weren't classic cars at the time, I've had a few German cars over the years and generally found them to be good cars to own - this includes a pair of E32 BMW 750is (one an ex-motorshow 750iL), a Z3 2.8, E28 535i and briefly an E34 5 series touring (estate car). Mercedes Benz has been represented by four 124-series estates (230TE, 300TE, then two E280s). Other members of the family have also had a wide variety of German cars, BMWs in the main. The most underwhelming of the lot was a plodding Mk2 VW Golf which, while screwed together well, was particularly dreary and largely forgettable.
The classic German cars featured here were photographed by myself at various classic car events over the years. Highlights include "gullwing" Mercedes Benz 300SL coupes and roadsters, BMW E9 coupes (including 3.0CSL), E3 sedans, E12 / E28 saloons, a Z8 seen at Silverstone, and E21 & E30 3-series cars of various denominations. I do like the original Audi quattro coupes too and they also get a mention amongst the newer "modern classics" included here, as does the re-created streamlined Audi of 1933/4. Less glamorous - but probably more relatable to most of us - German cars to get a mention include a rare Audi 50, Trabants of various flavours, an Opel Kadett estate, many VW Beetles, and a two-tone a Wartburg 311 saloon to name just a few.
