The survey revealed that according to most Indians, PM Modi is steering the country in the right direction. Surprisingly, PM Modi commanded high approval ratings even during the peak of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, which was a time when the Government was at the receiving end of immense criticism from both the opposition as well as sections of the public regarding the handling of the pandemic.

The huge dip in approval ratings of US president Joe Biden, French president Emmanuel Macron, Canada PM Justin Trudeau is believed to be associated with the war on Ukraine. Another contributing factor could be the mask and Covid-19 vaccine mandates which saw widespread protests across those countries along with a spiralling infection and mortality toll during the Covid wave.

The approval rating list of 22 leaders revealed how differently the public perceived their leaders during elections and how they perceive them now.
