Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute flares-up after assault of KRSTC bus conductor in Belagavi

Описание: The long-standing dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra has once again flared-up, following the assault of a KRSTC bus conductor in Belgavi. On Feb 21, a KRSTC bus conductor was assaulted for not knowing Marathi by members of a group called Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES). The miscreants proceeded to vandalise the bus, tearing off the nameplate and painted anti-Karnataka slogans on the vehicles. They warned that if Marathi-speaking people faced any trouble in Karnataka they will retaliate further. The incident has sparked massive outrage with Kannada groups demanding strict action, and as a result inter-state bus service between the 2 states has been suspended.
