To Live (1994) – One of Zhang Yimou’s best films, telling the deeply moving story of a man and his family surviving decades of political and social change in China. A must-watch if you love historical dramas.

The Wandering Earth (2019) – China’s biggest sci-fi blockbuster, often called "China’s first major sci-fi film." The stunning visuals and dramatic dialogue make it a thrilling way to practice Mandarin.
