The Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS‑1995) under EPFO currently provides a minimum pension of ₹1,000 per month to private sector retirees.
Many pensioners have been demanding an increase to ₹7,500–₹10,000 due to rising living expenses.

According to the 2026–27 Parliamentary Standing Committee report, the government has been advised to consider raising the minimum pension.
If additional budget allocation is made, EPFO may revise the pension amount.
