The new Uptown Shah Alam in Seksyen 24 is finally nearing completion after nearly a decade of setbacks, delays, and repeated fire incidents.
Originally a popular night market and food hub, Uptown Shah Alam suffered major fires in 2014, 2016, and 2018, destroying hundreds of stalls and forcing traders to operate from a temporary site. In response, PKNS began constructing a brand-new complex in October 2017, designed with a distinctive Modern Bugis architectural style.
The project was initially scheduled for completion in 2019, but severe delays pushed the timeline back by several years. Now, the long-awaited redevelopment is almost complete and is expected to be operational before Hari Raya 2026.
The new Uptown Shah Alam will feature:
460 business stalls
A food-centric night market concept
Public facilities including toilets and a surau
A performance stage, offices, and promotional lots
Landscaped garden areas
519 parking spaces for visitors
