For the fifth instalment in British Vogue’s A Celebration of Pride series, filmmaker Joseph Delaney takes us inside London’s LGBTQIA+ club nights. Queer nightlife is about hedonism, high fashion (“the look is everything,” says club-kid style obsessive Miss Jason in the clip), and having a good time. But it’s also about creativity, friendship, and most crucially, forging a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community – an informal service the scene has provided for half a century or more. “It’s where we organise, where we form these bonds, create our family,” says Lucia Blayke, the founder of London Trans Pride. “It’s where we become powerful and fearless enough to tackle all the hatred and bigotry that we face in the outside world.”
