Rabanco Pete 320 Leach 2RII RL with ADR Recycle Bucket

Описание: I am very happy to present to you all the very first and probably only video of a garbage truck in classic Rabanco colors.

For those of you who don't know, Back in 2008 and prior, Seattle used to be done by 2 haulers, WM and Locally owned Rabanco. After a new contract with the city of Seattle, Rabanco (At this point it was already owned by Allied Waste/Republic) was replaced with CleanScapes and the zones for who collects where was redone. Almost all of the Rabanco trucks that were used for the Seattle contract were scrapped off, and the only remaining ones were out of the other 3 yards. As time went on, all of those got replaced too. After countless attempts at all of the Republic yards in the area, all of the Rabanco trucks were finally scrapped off and I was never lucky enough to get video of any of them. I spent hours upon hours over the course of 3-5 years trying to track them down to just be able to get video of just 1 Rabanco truck to preserve the history. I was never lucky enough though.

Around 2013 I was searching some haulers around the Seattle area an ran across a company called West Seattle Recycling. They had a truck but I wasn't sure what it was until Streetview showed me that it was an old Rabanco truck. Completely shocked I immediately got in contact with the company, just to be told that they had since outsourced all of their collections to Waste Management and the truck was no longer used anymore. I was completely disappointed to hear this news, but I wasn't entirely surprised anymore either. After a couple years, fellow youtuber Northwest Refuse and myself went to the West Seattle Recycling yard and sure enough, the truck was still sitting there so we took the opportunity to grab some pictures. The truck had WM stickers put over the Rabanco logos which is a shame but I was just happy to finally see a Rabanco truck again after not having seen one in years. These trucks used to be everywhere in Seattle when I was younger and I have very fond memories of watching them collecting garbage around the city and driving everywhere. The guys at West Seattle Recycling told Jay and I that WM had plans to bring the truck over to their main yard and possibly restore or scrap it off. After another year of nothing happening with the truck, all the sudden one day when I was driving by the WM Seattle yard, I spotted a white truck and sure enough, it was the Rabanco truck. Seeing where the truck was parked in the yard and being the only white truck out of the whole fleet and having such a weird setup, I was sure that the truck was going to be scrapped off. I was able to see the truck in the WM yard one more time about a month later and that was the last I saw of it.

Fast forward to present time. I was headed to Seattle to try and track down 1 truck which ended up not leaving the yard I was at, so I went over to another yard in seattle and the truck I wanted to see there also wasn't leaving the yard that day either. Thoroughly frustrated I turned my car around and was about to leave when all the sudden I look into my rear view mirror and see a white pete 320 cab with a weird body behind the cab and I immediately knew what truck that had to be. I was completely in shock as to what I was seeing because at this point it had been almost a year since I last saw the truck at all in any sort of form. Sure enough, the truck was headed to route and I made the most of what I was able to get.

The driver of the truck wasn't very thrilled about the videos but after explaining that this truck has a lot of history behind it to me, he agreed to let me get a couple stops. This isn't my best work ever, but I really tried to showcase everything about this truck in what little time I had to do it. I appreciate the driver letting me get what I did because I doubt I'll ever see this truck again since its one of only a few Diesels left in the yard, not to mention a whole new fleet is on the way.

So to shorten it up, this truck started life as a Rabanco truck, became an Allied/Republic truck, got sold off to West Seattle Recycling, West Seattle Recycling subcontracted their collections to WM. I was extremely lucky to find this truck and it certainly wasn't anything I expected to film on this day. Hope you all enjoy this one of a kind video!

Technically West Seattle Recycle owns this truck, which is why it is still around. Since writing and editing this video, WM got all of their trucks back up, the new fleet is running, and this truck is back sitting at the West Seattle recycle yard doing nothing.
