EcoTech Radion LED Lighting: BRStv Product Spotlight

Описание: http://brs.li/radionled On today's episode of BRStv, we are going to take an up-close look at the EcoTech Radion Gen 2 and EcoTech Radion Pro. We'll take a look at the differences in each LED light, the external appeal, controllability, build quality, upgrade path and warranty.

EcoTech Radions in general are a high quality aquarium LED light. We have found that corals respond well, the colors and intensity are impressive (50% increase in PAR over the Radion Gen 1), the body is a sleek, low-profile design and the programming software is easy to use. These LED lights can now be connected via rail kit system which makes it easier to hang more than one light above your tank.
So what's the difference between the Radion Gen 2 and the Radion Pro. The Radion Pro offers more colors -- four indigo, four UV and two yellow. These additional colors add just a bit of fluorescence and pop to your corals. It may even contribute to enhanced coral coloration and growth.

Both Radion versions offer button controls on the actual module itself but there is no display and these options are limited. The software that comes with each Radion is easy to set up and easy to use. The program opens and allows you to easily adjust the spectrum at any point in the day. You can add as many new points as you want and then hit the demo mode to preview the results. If you use their browser based version - EcoSmart Live - it walks you through the process. Input when you want to turn them on and off. Maximum intensity zero to one hundred, 50% is a good starting point. Please resist the urge to bump it up to 100% - it most likely will be too much for your tank. Set a lunar moon cycle and acclimation cycle. The acclimation cycle is a great idea for LED's especially if you don't own a PAR meter. This feature allows you to reduce the starting intensity and a period of time over which it will gradually increase the intensity of the lights based on your programing. There really isn't a better way to slowly acclimate the corals to the new light source over many weeks and can easily prevent starting too high and bleaching your corals. Finally, if you don't want to create a custom program, EcoTech includes several options "out of the box" - natural shallow reef, natural deep water reef, high growth, radiant color, traditional reef and even a planted freshwater tank.
The Radions are well-machined, feel solid in your hand and the heatsink is fan driven -- important because keeping the LEDs cool can extend the life of your LED light.
One of the nice things about the Radion is they also allow for an upgrade path after new models have been released. LED lighting technology is constantly evolving and let's face it - it isn't cheap. Providing the ability to upgrade makes it a lot easier to be confident about a purchase and its long term viability.

So let's talk about warranty. EcoTech Marine is a based out of Pennsylvania. This is a big bonus to have the manufacturer and distributor here in the US. The LED's pucks have two year warranty and everything else one year. This is one year longer on the LED pucks verses most of the other major players.
