‘Do not proceed’: Filipino seafarer warns crews after Black Sea drone attack

Описание: Diskarteng Marino, the Philippines’ most-followed marine content creator with 2.6 million followers, was aboard a ship leaving the Black Sea when a nearby vessel was attacked by five Russian drones.

His crew chose to help, rescuing all 21 sailors aboard the stricken vessel, including 17 Filipinos and four Romanians.

But just six hours later, their own ship was hit by two drones, sustaining substantial damage before reaching Turkey for repairs.

“Do not proceed,” he warned sailors heading towards the conflict zone, describing the experience as “very traumatic”.

He recalled daily alarms, explosions on the horizon and ships being towed into port, saying he would never return to the area.

The danger extends far beyond the Black Sea. The International Maritime Organization says more than 11,000 seafarers aboard around 500 ships remain in the Arabian Gulf amid fears of missile and drone attacks around the Strait of Hormuz.

At least 20 sailors and dockworkers have been killed, with dozens more injured, according to the IMO.
