Skiers Jakobína Valdís & Hólmfríður Dóra met in Bláfjöll for coffee, waffles, and a chat about their journeys as professional skiers.
Jakobína brought a diploma from Cortina 1956, where she became the first Icelandic woman to compete in the Winter Olympics.
Hólmfríður, who made her Olympic debut in Beijing 2022, now lives in Italy and is training for Cortina 2026—exactly 70 years after Jakobína’s historic race. As they browsed through old photos, they reflected on how the sport has evolved, from Ísafjörður to Bláfjöll and beyond.
