Preserving the health and beauty of Queensland’s iconic Great Barrier Reef remains a high and urgent priority for Australia. Work continues with industries operating in coastal catchments adjacent to the reef to reduce nutrient and sediment loads in runoff waters.
Fruit and vegetable producer Carl Walker and Sarah Limpus from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, have been working on a reef water quality project. They share how they have successfully applied precision agriculture technology to reduce nutrient and sediment losses while also enhancing soil and crop health on Carl’s farm located on the Don River flood plain.
