The Light We Cast (Observatory Versions + Lyrics) - Music of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

Описание: I've recently replayed this game (mainly to get the footage for this video) and it was honestly pretty therapeutic. Nothing more relaxing than playing a game about the end of the world :)

Unfortunately, all of the songs that you hear here weren't released on the official soundtrack for some reason. Well, actually "The Manifestation (Choir + Piano)" was released but it was mashed together with a bunch of other tracks. Anyway, still a bit of shame most of these weren't released, especially the first two songs which sound phenomenal.



Both of the "Explore Observatory" tracks play after you interact with the 4th and 5th Kate recordings in the observatory. They seem to be related to the menu music, which also wasn't released surprisingly enough.

The unreleased version of "The Light We Cast" doesn't play in-game as far as I can tell, but is found in the game files. It's simply called "Kates Psalm" in there. At first glance, it may not seem that this version is that different from the released version, but the mixing on the choir is pretty different and less refined overall. It's also slightly slower and the timing on some of the phrases is slightly different. This is probably an early version of this theme that was recorded before the final one that we hear in the credits and in the soundtrack.

"The Manifestation (Choir + Piano)" can be heard in the last part of "The Manifestation" on the official soundtrack. In the game files, the second half of this is split into a choir and a piano layer. I'm not sure why that part specifically was split into layers like that and not much else does (besides Carry Me Back to Her Arms). But hey, I'll take it.

Also, tecnically those Manifestation tracks reference the lyrics of Stephen's psalm, "The End of All Things" and not Kate's psalm, "The Light We Cast". But I thought it was neat how it was split into layers like that, so I decided to include them anyway.
