Описание: বাংলাদেশের কক্সবাজার জেলার মহেশখালী উপজেলায় মৈনাক পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় অবস্থিত আদিনাথ মন্দির।
ত্রেতাযুগে রাম-রাবণের যুদ্ধের সময় মহাদেবের আশীর্বাদ লাভের জন্য রাক্ষসরাজ রাবণ কৈলাশে যান। দেবতাদের অনুরোধে মহাদেব রাবণকে শর্ত দেন যে, রাবণ যদি তাঁকে বিরতিহীনভাবে তাঁকে নিয়ে যেতে পারে, তবেই তিনি লঙ্কায় যাবেন। এই শর্ত মেনে মহাদেবকে মাথায় নিয়ে রাবণ লঙ্কার উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা শুরু করেন। কিন্তু প্রকৃতির ডাকে সাড়া দিতে গিয়ে রাবণ মৈনাক পাহাড়ে অবতরণ করতে বাধ্য হয়। শর্তভঙ্গ হওয়ায় শিব মৈনাক পাহাড়ে অবস্থান গ্রহণ করেন এবং জনৈক নাগা সন্ন্যাসীর সহায়তায় নেপাল থেকে পাথরের অষ্টভূজা দুর্গামূর্তি মন্দিরে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিলে কোনো এক মহাদেবের উপাসক।

Adinath Temple is located on the top of Mainak hill in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar district in Bangladesh.
During the battle of Rama-Ravana in Tretayuga, the demon king Ravana went to Kailash to get the blessings of Mahadev. At the request of the gods, Mahadev conditioned Ravana that if Ravana could take him uninterruptedly, he would go to Lanka. Obeying this condition, Ravana started his journey to Lanka with Mahadev on his head. But in response to the call of nature, Ravana was forced to land on the Mainak hill. Shiva took up position on the Mainak hill due to breach of conditions. And with the help of a Naga monk, a stone octagonal idol from Nepal was erected in the temple by a devotee of one of the deities.
