Sawyer the GSP is 18 months old and we made our first short trip to the northwoods of Wisconsin for his first wild bird contact, woodcock. Turned out to be a great day and we moved 27 woodcock in just few hours! Sawyer started slow, bumped a few birds, then started to figure things out. He pointed and held nice and had quite a few finds. It's a great time watching a new dog get his feet wet with wild birds. Although woodcock are not a big challenge upland bird to hunt, they are extremely fun and make a great target for a pointing dog.
