A kite flyers perspective of the Annual Berkeley Kiting event. Interest in the competitive aspect of kiting seems on the wane. Multi line flyers are more attuned to team flying, communal flying, kite ballet and exhibition slack line kiting. Those who have the interest and the money gravitate toward the larger show kites. The great majority of attendees wish to relive old memories and create new ones for their children- a hard sell in today's electronic world.
Nevertheless, the prospect of a no admission day of family fun in the cool marine air is an irresistible magnet. The 30th Annual BKF was a success.
