In this Marathi Adventure Travel Vlog, we attempt one of the most dangerous and thrilling climbs in the Sahyadris — the legendary 90° vertical chimney climb of Padargad Fort.

Hidden deep inside the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary, this fort once served as a strategic watchtower to guard the ancient Ganesh Ghat trade route and monitor movements from the Mawal region. Today, it stands as one of Maharashtra’s most technical and feared treks.

At an altitude of around 4,490 ft, with steep rock patches, narrow ridges, and the infamous chimney climb — Padargad is not for beginners.

About Padargad Fort:

Padargad is a small but strategically important hill fort in the Karjat region of Maharashtra. Historically, it acted as a watchtower guarding the Ganesh Ghat trade route and movements from the Mawal side.

Located inside the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary at about 4,490 ft, Padargad is famous for:
• Its technical chimney climb
• Steep rock patches
• Remote jungle approach
• Rock-cut caves at the top
• Stunning views of Kothaligad, Siddhagad, and surrounding Sahyadris

The trek usually starts from Khandas village and is best attempted between October and February to avoid slippery and dangerous monsoon conditions.
