According to David Oancea, who purchased the $500,000 diamond-encrusted crocodile Birkin mentioned above and $2,000,000 of Hermes Birkin bags overall, they're a solid investment. He claims to have been offered $680,000 for the bag, a nearly 40% profit.

By owning a Birkin he's part of an exclusive club that includes Melania Trump, Miranda Kerr, Katie Perry, Victoria Beckman, and the Kardashian / Jenner clan. Jane Angert is the president and artistic director of JaneFinds, a company that helps buyers find rare Birkin bags.
