A quick call to Rudy...parts are good...things to look at that are broken are good...
I have found the trouble...and indeed, this drive that seemed to be working, but had the door trouble is now perfectly, gloriously happy! And a tour of the circuit board of a commodore 1541 disk drive!
There are so many people who like to tell me to get rid of all the broken things, but there comes a time when they might be helpful...indeed, parts are good, and in this case I went looking for a matching 1541 disk drive to try to find out why this one that works has the wonky flip door, maybe there is something that I can transplant or...well who knows...but as I have said so many times, parts are good!
