Описание: Between 1985 and 1989, glam metal was on top of the world. Though beset on all sides by the Parent's Music Resource Center, Christian fundamentalists, women's rights advocates, and underground metalheads, the genre not only persisted against these forces, but triumphed in producing some of the highest-selling rock albums of all time and heavily-attended stadium tours in North America, Europe, and Japan. That said, at this time, the sound of the genre began to splinter. On the one hand, there were bands that were safe enough to take home to mother like Bon Jovi, Poison, and Warrant; on the other, the harsh environment surrounding the Sunset Strip and other urban glam scenes manifested into sleaze rock acts like Faster Pussycat, Skid Row, and Guns 'n' Roses. This video, the second in a three-part history of glam metal, documents the turbulence of glam metal's peak years and how it went from a rebellious, up-and-coming commercial genre scandalized by American political and social authorities to an oversaturated, bloated beast of a commercial juggernaut milked by MTV, record execs, and desperate young bands eager to become rockstars - with all the drug abuse and promiscuity that entailed. How the hell did bands get a handle of this runaway hype train? And even more importantly: how the hell did they know when it was time to get off?
