Joe Holyoak, architect and urban designer, talks about Balsall Heath Pocket Park at the junction of Moseley Road and Haden Way.
In 2016, Joe and his colleague John Newson, of the then Balsall Heath Forum, applied for funds to transform the patch of wasteground into a green space.
With the help of local contractors, the Jericho Foundation, they put in paving, seats, planters, bins and a grassy mound, which is enjoyed by people who pass by.
This video was made as part of Our Garden – Sacred Spaces of Balsall Heath, a Creative City Project generously funded by Birmingham City Council programmed by the Birmingham 2022 Festival.
