A bench led by Surya Kant disposed of the suo motu case while allowing parties to seek further legal remedies. The apex court strongly stressed the need for a fair and impartial probe and cautioned the media, the victim’s family, and the accused’s family against influencing the investigation through public statements. During the hearing, Tushar Mehta assured the court that a decision on a possible CBI transfer was imminent.
