Pakistan sits where the Indian Plate collided with Eurasia. In this video, we travel north to south across Pakistan and connect the big tectonic zones to real rocks you can log in the field. We start in the Karakoram and Kohistan arc (deep crust, granitoids, volcanics), cross the Indus Suture Zone (ocean-closure rocks, mélanges), then move through the Himalaya and foreland basins (Potwar, Salt Range, Siwaliks). Finally, we reach Balochistan and Makran (subduction, accretionary prism) and the Indus delta/coast.
If you like geology field trips, stratigraphy, thin sections, and tectonics, this is for you.
