🪪 Buy your Welcome Suica or Pasmo Card: You can try for a tangible one (there may still be a chip shortage). Alternatively, you can download the app
🚆 Activate your JR Pass: If you opted for this transport option, head to any JR office to activate your pass. Everyone else will be trying to do the same thing at Haneda & Narita Airport. So alternatively, wait until you are in Tokyo, then find a JR office at a major station
🛜 Buy your data only sim: There’s plenty of spots to do this at the airport. Alternatively, you can buy an esim online, activate it before you leave home and be instantly connected when you arrive
🚌 Find transport from Narita Airport to Tokyo: Choose from the Airport Limousine Bus, Narita Express or The Skyline
🚎 Find transport from Haneda Airport to Tokyo: Choose from the Tokyo Monorail, Keikyu Airport Line or Airport Limousine Bus
Japan Tips 🇯🇵 Save this for your trip to Japan. 🇯🇵
1. Fill out your forms for customs ahead of time at Visit Japan Web. This is a game changer! It only takes a few minutes, and you’ll be able to skip the lines when arriving in Tokyo. 🎉
2. Don’t tip 🚫 at restaurants, bars, taxis, etc. Good service is just expected as the norm in Japan.
3. Don’t eat/drink 🚫 while walking around. There are designated eating areas at street food markets.
4. The public transportation is so quiet 🤫. The only people we saw talking on the subway were school kids or tourists (don’t be that tourist!). Also pay attention to which side of escalators and stairs people are using. There is always a “passing lane” kept open for people in a hurry.
5. Visit a robot cafe! 🤖 Try Pepper Parlor. The food isn’t great here, but you can make small talk with your robot waiter and have it dance to difference songs. 😆
6. Every hotel I stayed in provided pjs! I loved this little detail and wanted to bring every pair home 😆
7. Conveyer belt sushi! 🍣 SO affordable
8. Aerial views of Shibuya Crossing. Crossing view is $10USD per person, which includes a drink. 🍻 There’s no time limit. You can also find views at other places around the square
