Third episode of this new "less-text-more-video" format, this time we take a look at the Track While Scan (TWS) radar mode. However, an attack-oriented radar mode such as TWS is not useful unless the RIO can understand the situation, so I decided to add a couple of basic elements to the original topic, to give a better idea of the flow (or, at least, how I do it).

This topic was requested in the comments but the footage I used has another genesis: it is, in fact, part of the answer to a post on /r/hoggit (link below): the OP lamented the lack of guidance by the DCS in the case of a lost contact, so I was curious and wanted to check whether this was a bug or as intended.

** Test #2 & Ramblings [ 8:23 ]: Notes **
The WCS was guiding, but the missile stop the climb and proceeded in a shallow dive. More tests are required before drawing any conclusion, but I have the feeling that the AIM-54s were pointing toward the position of the targets in the three-dimensional space where they were the track was lost, rather than the position of the extrapolated tracks, so this may a bug or a limitation of the current implementation (or maybe I'm just wrong… :) ).
This observation is also corroborated by the TTI counters visible in the video, which were not decreasing because the distance between the missile and the "lost targets" was not decreasing either. It also seems that the WCS knew that as, in fact, the TTI indications never blinked as they did in my original recording because the WCS never activated the AIM-54s.
This behaviour resembles the previous iteration of the WCS, however, the older version was able to resume the guidance as soon as the track was found again.
Speaking of additional tests, it would be interesting to verify the impact of the 120" TTI limitation in this scenario, and what happens if the track is lost at varying magnitudes of SR.
