Travel Diary – From Mljet Pomena to Šćedro– Friday, August 29th, 2025

Описание: In the morning, we lifted anchor in Pomena on Mljet and set course for Šćedro, passing Korčula along the way. The island slipped by majestically as we headed further out into open waters.

The wind was strong from astern, and with reefed sails we surged forward, carried by the waves. Two to three meters high, they rolled in behind us, and Felicia danced on them like a living creature. For me, it was a beautiful sailing experience – powerful, wild, and full of freedom.

But not everyone on board could enjoy it the same way. Half of the crew was overcome by seasickness. Some had to throw up, others lay still, waiting for it to pass. For three hours, the journey was a challenge for everyone’s sea legs.

Yet, as soon as we reached Šćedro, relief set in. The calm of the anchorage eased everyone’s stomachs, smiles returned, and laughter slowly replaced the exhaustion.

Once again, I was reminded of how important it is to choose the right spot on board: close to the mast, where the motion is less intense, or at the helm, with the horizon and the islands in clear sight. It steadies both body and mind.

In the end, this day remains a memorable experience – true sailing with wind, waves, and the raw power of the sea.
