The latest Forbes’ list of the world’s biggest YouTube stars saw an 8-year-old Texan coming out tops, after earning an estimated US$26 million (S$35.1 million) last year by reviewing toys on his channel.
Singapore’s biggest YouTube stars are not in the same stratosphere but they are doing not too badly themselves. They are getting a big chunk of advertising and marketing budgets — both from the government agencies and private companies. But beneath the fame and fortune, there is a not-so-pretty side.
