Описание: Sansula bonus techniques

On the Sansula thumb piano, I have unlocked a series of techniques previously unexplored that I have dubbed "the Bonus Technique" which allows the instrument to become a complete instrument (meaning instead of only being capable of rich warm notes unaccompanied by other sounds, now is capable of creating chords and harmony with rhythmic accompaniment at the same time on the tiny playing surface) .

This is the first video in what will be a series showcasing my new Bonus Techniques on the Sansula like, Drumming, Thumping, Raking, Muting, Palming, Rolls, Up-Flicks, Tine-Pops, Brushes and more.

The Sansula instrument has traditionally been used to create beautiful rich, notes with the frame drum used solely to amplify the notes as well as create a lush "wah-wah" effect but the instrument was not designed to be played percussively (if the head breaks, it can not be repaired).

I did not intend to reinvent how this instrument is played but my fingers told me otherwise. Many of these techniques were unlocked the first night I had this instrument-it was the most natural way I thought to approach this tiny dynamic instrument and it felt like I wasn't even in control of it happening. It just happened! I had no goal of reinventing how we view the Sansula but I hope to inspire others to approach the instrument using these "bonus techniques".

DISCLAIMER-Hokema instruments (the maker in Germany) explicitly states to "not strike the head in a percussive way" and "this is not a drum" and if you break it, they can't repair it, so be warned-play with caution. Be gentle, feel the instrument out and play around with these techniques but first and foremost remember that if you break it, it's done so be gentle.

I call my music BonusTImeMusic because each day of my life that I am alive, I see it as a gift that I call Bonus Time (nothing is guaranteed, not today nor tomorrow).

In 2013 I was hit and nearly killed by a car while riding my bicycle home from teaching preschool.
