Some students entering library school have a clear vision of their ideal job. Others are more eager to explore the diverse career paths their degrees can open up. Whether you’re embarking on a new educational journey or mentoring people who are considering a career in libraries, this webinar will teach you more about specific programs that can help the next generation of librarians follow their interests and enrich the field.
This American Libraries Live webinar originally took place on February 3, 2026. It looked at three different library and information science programs and their curricula, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Information and Library Science (UNC SILS). Panelists covered broad areas, like school librarianship and public librarianship, as well as focus on diversity and the impact of technology on the profession.
This video segment features the following presenters from UNC SILS:
• Lori Haight, director of student services
• Ericka Patillo, associate dean of academic affairs and professor of practice
• Casey H. Rawson, teaching assistant professor and MSLS program coordinator
