Young jockey rides 50/1 winner on first start under Rules! | Racing TV

Описание: Molly Armytage celebrated a remarkable success on her first ride under rules as Enqarde sprang a huge 50-1 surprise in the 2m6½f hunter chase.

Armytage, daughter of 1990 Grand National-winning jockey Marcus Armytage – who rode Mr Frisk to victory and later became a racing journalist – appears to have inherited a natural talent for the saddle. She had already enjoyed her first point-to-point winner over the weekend, and her dream run continued here.

The 12-year-old, trained by Celia Plunkett, powered home to win by 14 lengths in impressive fashion.

Speaking to Racing TV, she said: “He was just brilliant – I can’t believe it. I thought at one stage he might get beaten because of the way he was jumping, but he travelled so strongly throughout that I stayed calm. As long as I kept things together and didn’t let the race slip away, I knew we’d be okay.

“Dad joked that I’d probably fall off after Sunday! I’m absolutely delighted.”

Enqarde was making his first appearance since finishing second in a point-to-point at Chaddesley Corbett last April. Despite concerns about whether the distance might be on the sharp side and fears he could be over-prepared, Armytage was thrilled to see him prove the doubters wrong.

“We felt the trip might be a bit short for him and I was worried he’d been overcooked, but he was absolutely perfect,” she added.
