Who Is Mohsen Rezaei? Ex-IRGC Chief Named Iran's Top Security Council Secretary

Описание: Mohsen Rezaei, former commander-in-chief of Iran's IRGC, has been appointed secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, replacing Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr amid ongoing tensions over the Strait of Hormuz. The appointment comes as Tehran continues its standoff with the U.S. and Israel, with talks faltering over navigation and sovereignty disputes. Rezaei, who led the IRGC during the Iran-Iraq War, has previously stressed the strategic value of the Hormuz waterway and warned Washington of "serious risks" over its naval blockade. Analysts are divided on the implications: some see it as a hardline shift in security doctrine, while others believe his military credentials could provide domestic cover for eventual negotiations with the U.S.
