Hard work, but what could be better than being able to work with flowers?
Harvesting saffron is extremely labour intensive. You spend the whole day bent over in the field. Flowers are picked extremely carefully by hand. In order to obtain 1 g of saffron, you need to pick as many as 180 to 200 flowers, clean then, dry them and leave them to rest. At the moment José María and his family harvest around two hectares of saffron. This pure saffron is also being used for the saffron energy drinks of Amanprana. It also works as antidepressant for a burn-out or depression. Saffron gives you a happy feeling, so you will be able to ‘move mountains’ again!
