Описание: Journey to the Great North Run – Race Day 2025

My first Great North Run since being diagnosed with brain cancer. I ran it alongside my incredible friend and North Shields Poly clubmate, Katie.

Goal: Sub-2 hours and to enjoy the experience
Reality: A brutal test of grit, heart, and resilience

At around 5K, I knew the pace was going to catch up with me. My legs felt fine, but I was already digging deep to hold on. From there, it became a mental battle—especially at 10K, knowing I was only halfway.

Katie was phenomenal. She kept the pace honest, coached me through the tough patches, and gave me the strength to keep pushing. I made it to the final mile before leg cramps forced me to stop. I tried to fight through, but it was already too late.

I walked that last mile, battling cramp and disappointment—but also pride. I gave everything I had. It wasn’t the time I hoped for, but it was a finish I earned.
This run wasn’t just about pace. It was about showing up, pushing through, and honoring the journey. Thanks for being part of it.
