A car manufacturer sold a car with a defective wheel made of wood to a dealer, who then sold it to a plaintiff. The wheel collapsed while the plaintiff was driving, causing injury. The defendant could have discovered the defect through inspection but did not. The question is whether the defendant owed a duty of care to anyone other than the immediate purchaser.
