Samples that come in the good, better, best format are excellent for consumers when selecting carpet. In most cases, the three different styles have the same color options available on the sample board. On the front of the sample, you will have three different thicknesses of carpet to feel. A typical scenario involves 40 oz, 60 oz, and 80 oz sizes. In this case, the thicker the size, the more it costs, and the better it is. On the back side of the sample board with all the individual colors, the different colors are almost always made out of the "best" carpet, not the "good" or "better" version.

Remember when a carpet mill does a "good, better, best" approach; the "good" carpet is actually good. Back in the day, with the Sears Catalogue, "good" was sometimes code for "not-so-good." If a carpet mill does a good, better, best - the good is actually good carpet, not bad carpet, so please do not worry about that.

It is best to feel the larger samples for feel only, then. If you don't like the large color on the front, you can select your carpet from the smaller samples for coloring only, without feeling. We like the good, better, best module because you can still have the same color carpet run throughout your house to keep the color consistent. If your budget doesn't allow for the best carpet throughout, you can often opt for the "good" in the basement and the best in the main areas upstairs. Another example is putting less expensive carpet in the kids' bedrooms to save money. There are several ideas and approaches you can use.
