New year weekend trip to Kalna

On 30 December 2025, we visited Kalna (Ambika Kalna), a historic town in West Bengal, initially to see the famous 108 Shiva Temples (Nabakailash Temple Complex). What began as a short winter vacation plan for Aadi turned into an unforgettable journey through one of Bengal’s richest heritage towns.

The 108 Shiv Mandir, built in 1809 by Maharaja Teja Chandra Bahadur of Bardhaman Raj, is a unique circular temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva. The architectural symmetry and spiritual atmosphere make it one of the most iconic Shiva temples in India.

To our surprise, Kalna has much more to offer beyond this famous site. In this video, we explore the royal, religious, and cultural heritage of Kalna through a relaxed Toto e-rickshaw town tour, covering:
