How to Find the Right Doctor

This is a way to find the right doctor... specifically in a non-urgent situation, such as finding a primary care physician (PCP).
1. Check your health insurance website for in-network doctors, in a location that is accepable to you and are the gender you prefer (if you have a gender preference).
You should create a list of about 6 options.
2. Use Google Maps Street View and Google Images to look at the office. Weed out offices that don't look good. Look at the on-line star ratings. You may want to weed out doctors with only 1 or 2 stars. Check to see if the doctor is in a solo practice. You may want to weed out solo doctors because they may have trouble with coverage on nights, weekends and holidays when you may need to call them.
You should be down to about 3 doctor options.
3. Call the doctor to check for appointment availability. Weed out those doctors who do not have availability that meets your needs.
