Organizer: Southeast-Asia Impact Alliance (SIA) was officially established on January 22, 2022, by C.Y. Huang, president of FCC, a well-known investment bank in the field of banking and finance. Southeast-Asia Impact Alliance's (SIA) goal is to connect small and medium enterprises that intend to develop in Southeast Asia and integrate high-quality human resources in Southeast Asia and South Asia; while building a comprehensive ecosystem and platform for Taiwanese entrepreneurs to advance to Southeast Asia.
According to the World Bank, Vietnam is the country with the largest wind energy potential in Southeast Asia, with more than 39% of the total area having an average wind speed equivalent to a capacity of 512 GW.
Vietnam is also the only country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to develop offshore wind power with installed projects currently reaching 99 MW.
However, the development of wind energy sources in recent years continues to face a number of inadequacies and challenges, such as high investment costs, low operating hours, and large land use requirements. Therefore, many marine areas in Vietnam have untapped high wind and wave energy potential. Vietnam needs to develop faster, both creating a competitive position in the "green economy" period, and also a key point to achieving the country's sustainable development goals.
Meanwhile, Taiwan is one of the pioneers of offshore wind installation projects planned in the short and medium terms in Asia. Taiwan has made impressive strides towards achieving its offshore wind goals. In 2019, they opened their first commercial-scale offshore wind farm, Formosa 1, with an installed capacity of 128 MW. The project currently powers about 128,000 homes annually.
The Taiwanese government has also made every effort to promote the development of energy storage systems with the hope of reaching 1.5 GW of storage capacity by 2025. Surely in the future, with a sustainable development plan, Taiwan will continue to take the lead.
Therefore, with the desire to introduce opportunities, potential and investment environment in Vietnam for businesses in the field of renewable energy, specifically wind energy in Taiwan, SIA cooperated with Xuan Cau Holdings to solemnly organize the Taiwan-Vietnam Offshore Wind Energy 2022.
