Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali delivered an inspiring commencement lecture titled “Why Stories Matter” at the Jindal School of Journalism & Communication (JSJC), O.P. Jindal Global University, on August 7, 2024.
In his address, Imtiaz Ali spoke about the power of storytelling as a fundamental human ability, emphasising that human beings survive and evolve because of imagination and stories. Encouraging students to “create your own myth,” he urged them to protect their individuality, challenge dominant narratives, and question authority, rather than becoming “faceless, nameless objects” within systems.
During his visit, Ali also inaugurated JSJC’s newly built Film & Television Studio and Multimedia Lab, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance hands‑on learning in filmmaking, set design, and visual storytelling.
