I'd always wanted one more Nirvana album. It felt like In Utero wasn't... it wasn't the right way to end, maybe? They had three amazing albums that had kind of touched on different aspects of the band, but what's the real Nirvana?

I feel like, had Kurt Cobain lived, the most likely explanations are in this order:

1. They break up. There is no fourth Nirvana album.
2. The next album is much more of an acoustic based album.

Well, here's my preferred take, and since this is the age of being able to program whatever alternate reality you want, here's mine. The "true" Nirvana is the "In Utero" Nirvana, and the fourth album only doubles down on that style. That's what Binary Sunrise is, even if it has a couple of brief, quieter moments. I hope you enjoy a sort of "what could have been."

From a philosophical standpoint- here's my opinion- let this shit loose. This is THE way to let fans honor the memories of their favorite artists. No one thinks Nirvana wrote this album. No one would take this album over In Utero or Nevermind. No one would decide not to buy a Nirvana album because things like this exist. We all clear on that point? Nirvana was amazing, Kurt Cobain is one of those few artists that could transition to the mainstream while being incredible, and this isn't meant to diminish that. Trust me. This doesn't take away from that and it doesn't threaten to usurp that. This ain't skynet, kids.

What this is is, well, an art piece. This is an artistic statement about what AI lets the artist do- present alternate realities, present fiction as truth. You can believe NOTHING you see ever again, okay? EVERYTHING might be fake. News reports, music, history... imagine if someone went so far as to create a wikipedia article about this? Can you really prove that this recording didn't happen?

As this technology progresses, how do you know when something's AI and something's not?

So maybe the artist's role changes from creating the music to curating the music and telling a story with an album. There's a story in this one. Hope you enjoy it.
