Описание: Completing the Circle: With the FCT Convening, Gender Mobile Initiative Wraps-up State-level Engagements to Strengthen Campus Safety

Last week’s Abuja FCT Convening marked a significant milestone for Gender Mobile Initiative, bringing to completion a historic journey of state-level engagement across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

Organized in collaboration with the Mandate Secretariate for Education and the ICPC, this final convening brought together high-level government officials, representatives from public and private tertiary institutions, and critical education stakeholders, all united in purpose.

This achievement is not just symbolic; it’s strategic. It signals the national reach of our work and a critical step toward the domestication and institutionalization of the Model Anti-Sexual Harassment Policy across Nigeria’s higher education landscape.

Over the past 12 months, through the SESHAP Project, we’ve laid the groundwork, state by state, to create a unified, survivor-centred response to sexual harassment on campuses.

With this final convening, we now pivot boldly into our next chapter: Campus Organizing. This phase will deepen implementation, strengthen accountability structures, and ensure that the policy moves from paper to lived experience.

We want to take this time to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Mandate Secretariate for Education and the ICPC for their steadfast partnership on this transformative journey. Their commitment has been instrumental in driving this nationwide effort forward. As we transition into this new phase of campus organizing, we do so with renewed energy, deeper resolve, and a shared vision of safer, more accountable learning environments across Nigeria. There is still much work ahead, but together, we are shaping a future where every campus is a place of dignity, safety, and justice.
