Описание: From the Arizona border, Scenic Byway 163 travels northeast through Monument Valley.

The redrock desert and spires of scenic Monument Valley have been the setting for countless movies and advertisements. This is the land of the Navajo, where scenery and Native American culture have created a perfect setting for photography. As the byway leaves the southern end of Monument Valley, Alhambra, a volcanic core, stands prominently next to the road. North of Monument Valley lies the village of Mexican Hat, named for the inverted sombrero-shaped rock formation visible from the byway. Entering Mexican Hat, the byway crosses the San Juan River on an historic suspension bridge. North of Mexican Hat lies the junction with Utah Highway 276 which leads to the road to the Great Goosenecks.
This byway takes approximately two hours for the 45-mile scenic byway. Plan extra time to enjoy side trips and photo stops.

Monument Valley, a red-sand desert region on the Arizona-Utah border, is known for the towering sandstone buttes of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. The park, frequently a filming location for Western movies, is accessed by the looping, 17-mile Valley Drive. The famous, steeply sloped Mittens buttes can be viewed from the road or from overlooks such as John Ford’s Point.
