About Asian Cinerama
In line with its mission to promote and honour outstanding Asian cinema, the Asian Film Awards Academy has collaborated with various film festivals in Hong Kong and around the world to present Asian Cinerama. Since its launch in 2015, the programme has travelled to over ten cities, offering audiences, film professionals, and students the opportunity to experience distinctive cinematic works from across Asia. The initiative aims to broaden the viewership of Asian cinema, expand the regional film market, enhance public awareness of different national film industries, and foster cultural exchange — encouraging audiences to embrace diversity through film.
Theme: Growing Light
The key visual for this edition of Asian Cinerama presents a silver rectangle—an other-worldly screen floating in deep space. Each film projected upon it invites viewers to cast their own memories onto its surface, unfolding chapter after chapter of growth. Through eight carefully selected films, we journey from childhood wonder to teenage longing, and into the quiet complexities of adult life. Each flicker of light becomes a moment of reflection—reminding us that growth isn’t just on screen, but within us, still unfolding long after the film ends.
