In this powerful and confronting reminder, Omar Suleiman asks a question many hearts are afraid to face:
Have we become bored with worship?
Bored of the Qur’an.
Bored of salah.
Bored of reminders and lectures.
Yet never bored of talking, scrolling, arguing, joking, or chasing the dunya.
The speaker reflects on the words of early scholars who said that when people become bored with worship, they begin to lose wara’ — that protective barrier between them and sin. And once that barrier weakens, the heart slips easily into pointless talk, argumentation, and spiritual laziness.
This talk reframes what consistency in worship really means.
It’s not only about worshiping Allah in times of ease and hardship.
It’s also about showing up when you feel motivated… and when you feel tired.
Just like exercising: you don’t train only when you’re excited — you train because the goal matters.
At the same time, Omar Suleiman reminds us of the Prophet ﷺ’s balance:
“Do what you can sustain, for Allah does not tire until you tire.”
And:
“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if small.”
Islam does not call to self-destructive extremes.
Some companions once pushed themselves to exhausting night worship — and the Prophet ﷺ corrected them. On the other hand, the talk reminds us of a person who keeps falling into sin again and again — yet Allah continues to forgive them as long as they keep returning in sincere tawbah.
The door of Allah never closes — but hearts can slowly drift away if they settle for the bare minimum.
The speaker contrasts this with the hypocrites mentioned in the Qur’an:
They come to salah lazy, only to be seen by people.
Outward laziness is often a sign of an inner spiritual problem.
If prayer always feels heavy…
If Qur’an feels like a chore…
If worship is something you rush through…
Then the heart needs healing.
The remedy is not to give up — but to push through the initial discomfort until worship becomes sweet again. To refuse to let your “minimum” keep shrinking. To aim higher, even when you don’t feel like it.
The talk then turns to parenting:
Don’t raise children who only pray for prizes.
Don’t reduce worship to stickers, candy, and rewards.
Instead:
• speak about Jannah
• reflect on the meanings of Qur’an
• build love for salah
• show joy in worship
So that children grow with intrinsic love for Allah — not just external incentives.
The reminder ends with a heartfelt du‘a:
That Allah opens our hearts, removes boredom from worship, grants steadfastness, and makes our small consistent deeds beloved to Him.
Core Message:
Don’t wait to feel like worshiping.
Worship until you love it again.
And never let your heart grow tired of Allah.
