👨⚕️ Did you know that you can train a tiger ⁉️ At the Tiger Kingdom Learning Center in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai, we are target training our cats using positive reinforcement; the tigers are taught to lie down in front of the target to get a tasty treat! The main reason to target train our animals is so that we will be able to administer injections and collect blood from the animal without using anaesthetic, the stick in the video is mimicking an injection and the tiger is being taught to ignore it. Not only will the training improve the veterinary care of the animals but it has other benefits too, like helping to build a relationship between animal and keeper, and providing mental stimulation to stop the tigers from getting bored!
