Norman D. Golden II played the role of Devon Butler in the 1993 movie “Cop and a Half” with Burt Reynolds. April marks the 30th anniversary of the hit movie that grossed over 40 million in the box office. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Please join me in congratulating him on his acting and entertainment industry success!!
His character in the movie was significant because he brought a unique perspective to the story as a young Black child who aspired to be a police officer. By portraying this character, Golden challenged stereotypes about what a police officer should look like and showed that anyone can aspire to serve their community in a positive way. His role also helped bring more awareness to the issue of representation in Hollywood and the importance of having diverse roles for Black actors.
Norman has starred and co-starred in several movies such as; his portrayal of Pharaoh Rivers in the made for television movie "There Are No Children Here" starring Oprah Winfrey, Jim Jam Ween in "On Promised Land", Aaron Crawford in "America's Dream", “The Boy Who Painted Christ Black", starring Wesley Snipes and the remake of "Moby Dick", where he played the role of Pip, starring Patrick Steward and The Late Gregory Peck.
Being an actor, writer, producer, and speaker isn’t all that he is involved with these days. Considered as an “education warrior”, Golden speaks to young people about the importance of education, media literacy, and providing tips on navigating the entertainment industry.
Starting out as a child actor himself, along with a variety of current projects—Golden has a wealth of knowledge, experience, and some pivotal stories that he can share with the world.
