Will the S-400 become unnecessary for Turkey?
Turkey continues to work on developing its own air defense systems, and acceptance tests for the SİPER-1 battery, a long-range air defense and missile defense system, have been conducted at the Sinop Test Center in northern Turkey.
The battery-level tests were conducted in conditions that included the maneuvering of friendly and hostile aircraft simultaneously in the same airspace. Turkish authorities stated that the tests confirmed the system's operational capability in combat conditions and marked the completion of the acceptance tests for the SİPER-1 battery elements.
This system will now be integrated into Turkey's "Steel Dome", which already includes systems with a shorter range. It was also announced that the mass production of SIPER-1 has already begun and the first battery has been officially handed over to the Armed Forces.
The SIPER-1 system includes a fire control center, radar, launchers, and anti-aircraft missiles with a range of 100 km.
